KBR: all Serene in the Sun
Posted by: Tim Gurney
Another tough day here at KBR. The sun shines, the breeze rustles the palms and ripples the surface of the Straits. After a slightly quieter start to September, KBR is busy again. We have three boats running today – and a fourth for tomorrow. I love it when we are busy – there is a real exciting buzz about the place. Everything cracks along.
A dive this morning at Magic Crack with some new guests turned up a lovely Ornate Ghost Pipefish and some of those little v-sign wavers, Galathea – or squat lobster. If you have never had two fingers waved at you by an underwater organism, check these babies out……
As the sun shimmers on the water and “zuh layf zat iz zuh un’er wahtur wurl’ ghowz abowt ‘iz bizness” (merci, Jacques), a gentle hammering of hammer on wood bears witness that we are making good progress on re-building the main jetty. It’s about half done. Yay!
And that’s not the only change: new notice boards and signs around KBR. And our Japanese instructor, Takako has moved on. We wish her well and thank her for all she has done. We will have her successor in soon.
And I’m organising things so that I can attend the NEC Dive Show in Birmingham UK. Hope to see you there. And I’ll be joining KBR’s owner, Mark, at DEMA in Orlando. Do drop by and say Hi. We love to see old guests – and meet news ones. And Mark has promised me new KBR shirts. Will I get a yellow one again to match my yellow Crocs?
So, although the sun shines, the sea shimmers and the breeze wafts, behind the scenes we are paddling like mad – while you, our guests, see a swan serenly drifting along. Well I hope you do: not some scraggy duck….
KBR: it’s all serene in the sun. Yawn. [Noises off: Paddle faster, dammit, boys]
